Art Media Agency — Missing antiques found in Château

An investigation is underway in Fr\u00e9vent, France, after 92 missing antiques and artworks were discovered at Ch\u00e2teau de Cercamp. The items were apparently stolen over the course of recent years from local churches and the nearby Sandelin de Saint-Omer museum.<\/p>\n

The investigation was instigated by a chance visitor to the Ch\u00e2teau de Cercamp. An avid ceramics fan, the visitor happened to notice a ceramic barometer base on display that he recognised as part of the collection at the Sandelin de Saint-Omer museum. He notified museum authorities, who sent curator Romain Saffr\u00e9 to look into the claim. During his visit to the ch\u00e2teau, Saffr\u00e9 discovered several other missing items, including a bronze box estimated to be worth several hundred thousand euros.<\/p>\n

The search is now on for the alleged thieves and any co-conspirators who may have assisted in trafficking the missing objects. Meanwhile, in addition to the 92 stolen items seized from the Ch\u00e2teau, more than 200 other missing objects have yet to be found.<\/p>”,”html_fr”:”

Passionn\u00e9 de c\u00e9ramiques, ce visiteur a remarqu\u00e9 une base de barom\u00e8tre en c\u00e9ramique expos\u00e9e qu\u2019il a reconnue comme faisant partie de la collection du mus\u00e9e Sandelin de Saint-Omer. Il a inform\u00e9 les autorit\u00e9s du mus\u00e9e, qui ont envoy\u00e9 le conservateur Romain Saffr\u00e9 pour v\u00e9rifier l\u2019information. Lors de sa visite au ch\u00e2teau, Romain Saffr\u00e9 a d\u00e9couvert plusieurs autres objets disparus, dont une bo\u00eete en bronze estim\u00e9e \u00e0 plusieurs centaines de milliers d\u2019euros.<\/p>\n
