Celebrate Summer First Fridays at Portola Art Gallery in Allied Arts Guild on June 7

June 5, 20241 Min Read

by Frances Freyberg on June 5, 2024

The Portola Art Gallery invites the public to Summer First Fridays at the Allied Arts Guild. The first will be held this Friday, June 7, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Come meet the artists, enjoy wine and light refreshments, and wander through the beautiful gardens of the Guild. There will be another Summer First Friday on July 15.

The gallery exhibits paintings, pastels, photography, ceramics, paper sculptures, and woodworking by 21 award-winning Bay Area artists. Visitors can expect a wide selection of framed, original artwork, as well as easy-to-gift items such as cards, scarves, and pottery.

Founded in 1981 to showcase the work of local artists, the Portola Art Gallery was originally located in Portola Valley’s turn-of-the-century little red schoolhouse in the town center off of Portola Road. In 1996, the gallery was moved next to the town’s library, where it remained until relocating to Allied Arts Guild in 2006. As a cooperative gallery, the members share in the duties and costs of running the gallery. New artists are juried in as members leave.
