Here come the waterworks at Pitt Meadows Art Gallery

June 10, 20242 Mins Read

Visitors to the Pitt Meadows Art Gallery might soon think they’ve been transported to the set of the 1995 film Waterworld, thanks to all the water-based works of art included in the new gallery.

Entitled H2O, this new exhibit contains various pieces from members of the Garibaldi Art Club, all of which feature water as the primary subject matter.

“The pieces portray diverse scenes, from waterways to conceptual explorations and ideas relating to water,” explained the City of Pitt Meadows.

Each of the pieces involved will be available for sale and were made by a local artist.

Some of the artists will even be putting on live demonstrations of their art-making process on various days throughout the exhibit.

Here is a schedule of when certain artists can be found in the Pitt Meadows Art Gallery from 1 to 3 p.m.:

• Sunday, June 16 (Lyn Thomas, pastels)

• Saturday, June 22 (Olivia Burrage, oil on canvas)

• Sunday, June 23 (Kathy Nay, watercolour)

• Saturday, June 29 (Bryn Watkins, oil)

• Sunday, June 30 (Simone Sullivan, pastel or acrylic)

• Saturday, July 6 (Sharon Ferreira, watercolour)

• Sunday, July 13 (Dave Clark, watercolour)

• Sunday, July 14 (Isabel Gibson, acrylic)

The opening reception for the H2O exhibit is on Saturday, June 15, at 1 p.m.

Anyone can stop by the South Bonson Community Centre, where the Pitt Meadows Art Gallery sits on the main floor, and can view the exhibit for free from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.
