June 22, 20242 Mins Read

Sue Wickison’s stunning botanical illustrations feature in an exhibition of 31 paintings which depict plants mentioned in the text at Cartwright Hall from today until September 8.

First showcased at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew and now on display at Cartwright Hall, this exhibition is the culmination of a research project lasting several years, undertaken by Kew scientist, Dr Shahina Ghazanfar, in collaboration with renowned scientific artist, Sue Wickison.

There is also a free family activity day on Saturday June 22 from 11am – 3pm and a practical workshop with Sue Wickison on Sunday June 23, 11am – 3pm £20 (tickets from the reception desk 01274 431212).

As part of Bradford Literature Festival, which begins next week, visitors can join Dr Shahina Ghazanfar and Sue Wickison in conversation on Saturday June 29 as they discuss the book that accompanies this exhibition.

Syima Aslam, CEO & Artistic Director of Bradford Literature Festival said: “We are thrilled Shahina Ghazanfar and Sue Wickison will be joining us at the Bradford Literature Festival to discuss their award-winning book.

“Plants of the Quran is a perfect example of how literature, art, and science can come together to create something truly extraordinary, and we are delighted to showcase this at the festival so the public can hear from the creators themselves.”
