Starting off with a group of four people, the charity is now supporting nine adults with the aim of helping them to develop life skills so they can live their lives independently.

Over the past two years they have been attening art classes held by local artist Craig Kenny at his art gallery, which ended with them creating their own unique artwork which was to be put on display.

Johnny Walker of 4G said: “Over the last two years, Four G have attended local artist Craig Kenny’s art gallery, The Willowtree Cafe in Comber for a monthly art class.

“Craig has worked closely with the group of nine adults with learning disabilities to help them develop new skills, work with different materials and explore landmarks and legends to create a number of unique pieces.

“The young adults have loved their time with Craig and enjoyed showcasing their pieces at an art exhibition in the Willow Tree Cafe on Thursday June 27. The exhibition was even bigger and better than the previous year, and young adults paintings flew off the walls, making the event huge success.

“Four G is a local day opportunities based in Ballybeen. The service offers a door to door pick up for these adults once they have finished their journey in education. The service has ran for almost two years now, starting with one staff member and four young adults, this year has seen a huge expansion with five more young adults attending and two more staff on board to meet the needs of these adults.

“Four G offers a one of kind service with the users participating in job opportunities, physical activities, day trips and much more. The service runs with huge support of local businesses, communities and parents of the users.”
