A prolific artist is showing off her colourful work in a pop up exhibition.
Newark artist, Nikki McKay, is holding a limited time exhibition of her work in the Newark Buttermarket colonnades gallery space today (August 10)
She is perhaps best known for her large and vibrant paintings of dancing ladies, which once hung in the former Cafรฉ Blur in Newark, but is also showcasing her newer, more abstract work, which continues her fascination with colour.

She said: โI like to experiment and have fun with my art. I like to make people smile.
โMy dad was a painter and my mum was a dancer, so Iโve always had that creativity from a young age.
โIโm like a jazz pianist improvising, except I like improvise with colour.โ

Operating out of her converted barn studio, Nikkiโs paintings encompass several different artistic techniques and blend mixed media together, including oils, acrylics, wax, and even photo transfers.
To find out more about her work, visit www.nikkimckay.com or follow her on social media.
The exhibition is free to enter, with works of art, prints and postcards available to buy.
