August 12, 20242 Mins Read

On Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, the Des Moines Legacy Foundation and Inkfish Foundation sponsored the inaugural art exhibition of Inkfish Gallery on 7th Avenue in Des Moines.

The gallery and the exhibition were put together by local artists George C. Scott and Fred Andrews.

The exhibition featured art by several local area artists working in various mediums, including:

  • Fred Andrews
  • Nancy Bogni
  • Amanda Gligorea
  • Earl Harper
  • Pat McVay
  • George C. Scott
  • Megan Smith
  • Chris Strenberg-Powidzki
  • M. Anne Sweet
  • Toka Valu
  • Adrian Vanderhoeven
  • Dez Williams

Adding to the creative ambiance, the event featured a live jazz performance by renowned guitarist Ron Peters, accompanied by drummer Mark Drake of the band ThorNton Creek. The combination of visual art and music created a lively and engaging atmosphere for attendees.

The success of this event has inspired Scott and Andrews to plan future exhibitions at Inkfish Gallery, including solo shows, themed exhibitions, and additional group showcases.

Notable attendees included Washington State Representative Tina Orwall and local community members, who mingled with the artists and enjoyed the rich display of local talent.

Below is a video of Ron Peters’ performance at the exhibition:
