Open Mic features music at Wilkes Art Gallery

Players and Poets Open Mic Night was held at the Wilkes Art Gallery on C Street/Ward Nichols Way in Downtown North Wilkesboro on Friday evening, Aug. 23. Above left, Andy Rhodes and Kevin Aita played several tunes on their guitars. Above right WAG Director Brooke Horn welcomed visitors and gave an overview of the current exhibit, which is The Northwest Artists’ Exhibition, Minute: A Miniature Art Exhibition. Above left, Jim Trice played bass fiddle and sang, Andrew Triplett played guitar and sang, and Marty Absher played fiddle. Right, Trice, a WAG Board member, who emceed the event, also played a couple of songs and sang solo.

Left, Lori Burke, (center) Bryson Henninger, and (right) Gary Booth all played guitar and sang. The next Players and Poets Open Mic Night is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 20. Also, on there will be an opening reception on Friday, Sept. 13, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. where visitors can view the work of Cindy Taplin, Lori Hill, Lucas Hundley, and Nancy Brittelle. The opening receptions are open to the public and refreshments will be available.
