A2Z ART GALLERY PRESENTS: « 1964: UNE LONGUE AMITIÉ »

October 9, 20242 Mins Read

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of France’s recognition of the People’s Republic of China, A2Z Art Gallery presents the exhibition « 1964: Une Longue Amitié, » exploring the rich Sino-French artistic exchange. The exhibit highlights the works of nine prominent artists, such as Bernar Venet, Jean-Pierre Raynaud, and Zhou Li, showcasing a dialogue between Eastern and Western art forms.

Among the featured works is Franck Scurti, whose multidisciplinary pieces offer a subtle reflection on everyday objects and moments, creating thought-provoking connections between personal and collective histories.

Also on display is Frank Perrin’s sculptural series « SMASH! » This series transforms flattened champagne wire cages into large sculptures made of aluminum rods, representing a critical examination of art in a consumerist era. For Perrin, the image serves as more than just a tool; it becomes the “vector” of his artistic exploration, embodying influences from situationism to late capitalism.

Additionally, Zhou Li’s work, Get Rid of Skin and Dance with Bones (2024), adds an evocative commentary on life, death, and transformation, contributing to the exhibition’s overarching themes of cultural heritage and innovation.

Through diverse mediums and thoughtful curation, « 1964: Une Longue Amitié » celebrates six decades of artistic collaboration, paying homage to the enduring friendship between France and China.
