Royston mayor attends Curwens gallery open evening

The event, hosted by Curwens Solicitors’ Royston branch, was part of the Royston Arts Festival week.

Councillor John Rees also got to see the musical talents of the school’s students.

Claire Fremann, curator of Curwens Art Gallery, said: “There was a great atmosphere to the evening with so many proud parents and families attending to see their child’s work on display and enjoy the musical performances.

“Curwens Art Gallery is delighted to give recognition to these talented students.

“We wish them all great success in their future ventures.”

Royston’s mayor, Councillor John Rees went to the showcase of the King James Academy students’ art (Image: KJAR)Elaine Baigent, leader of art at King James, said: “After a lot of hard work it’s so satisfying to see all these wonderful characters sharing the opportunity to showcase their talent.

“We are very grateful to Curwens for giving us this opportunity and for their continued support of local artists.”

Head of performing arts, Carly Cole, and specialist music teacher, Annie Watkins, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Curwens for giving the students this wonderful opportunity to perform in a semi-professional environment.

“Our students show constant commitment to the performing arts and are very proud to see them rise so well to this challenge.”
