A new learning centre is being planned for Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum.
The scheme has been backed by the Arts Council, which has given a grant of £239,922.
Museums Worcester said the money would also be used to conserve the city’s art collection and to support a programme of events at the Commandery to commemorate the 375th anniversary of the Battle of Worcester.
Existing office space will be freed up to create the new centre.
