Experts and enthusiasts in art and finance will gather at London Business School’s eighth annual Art Investment Conference to discuss the risks and benefits of art investment, and the increasing importance of art for alternative investment and wealth management portfolios.

The conference themed ‘Sketching the future of art investment’ will take place on 30 May at the Royal College of Nursing and will see industry leaders and London Business School faculty examine current trends in the art market and look at how art can be used as a form of investment and wealth management.

Emily Wu one of the student co-organisers said: “The Art Investment Conference will bring together leaders from both the art and finance industries. We hope the conference will provide a platform for debate and interesting conversations around investing in art and what the future of this sector will look like.”

Speakers include:

  • Adriano Picinati di Torcello, Director of Art & Finance, Deloitte
  • Anna Dempster, Senior Lecturer, Sotheby’s; Author, Risk and Uncertainty in the Art World
  • Anders Petterson, Founder and Managing Director, ArtTactic
  • Greg B Davies, PhD, Head of Behavioural and Quantitative Investment Philosophy, Barclays
  • Guy Jennings, Managing Director, The Fine Art Fund Group
  • Harco van den Oever, Founder and CEO, Overstone Associates
  • Jeffrey Boloten, Co-founder and Managing Director, ArtInsight
  • Kenny Schachter, Art Dealer, Curator and Writer
  • Luke Dugdale, Director of Private Client Wealth Management, Royal Bank of Canada
  • Rachel Pownall, Associate Professor at Tias Nimbas Business School, Maastricht University
  • Richard Nicholson, Executive Director of Fine Art, Jewellery & Specie, Willis Group

Participants will consider different initiatives which integrate art investment into wealth management strategy and alternative investment strategy, and will look at ways to drive growth in the sector.

The role of the conference, now in its eighth year, is to examine art’s role as an asset class, explore new growth frontiers and connect new and old practitioners. The annual conference is hosted by the London Business School Art Connection Club, which seeks to educate, provide awareness and foster career opportunities for the School community.
