Memories of Drawings, focused on the career of Georgia O’Keeffe, will open at Beverley Art Gallery on March 28.
The exhibition features 21 photogravure prints spanning 1915 to 1963 and exploring O’Keeffe’s journey as a leading modernist.
Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “This wonderful exhibition celebrates almost half a century of work by the celebrated artist Georgia O’Keeffe.
“We are excited to see what the public thinks of this free exhibition and feel privileged to host the first-ever screening of the documentary, The Brightness of Light, as part of an exhibition dedicated to her work.”
The photogravures, developed in collaboration with O’Keeffe’s friend and agent Doris Bry, offer insight into the themes and forms that defined her long career.
Hannah Willetts, curator at Beverley Art Gallery, said: “Georgia O’Keeffe is one of the most important modern artists of the 20th century.”
Alongside the exhibition, the gallery will screen Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light (2024), directed by Paul Wagner and featuring Claire Danes as the voice of Georgia O’Keeffe, with narration by Hugh Dancy.
