April 4, 20242 Mins Read

Salisbury’s Gallery 21, in Market Square, is running the ‘Land and Sea’ exhibition, presenting work from more than a dozen national artists.

On Saturday, March 30, the Gallery opened the exhibition, showcasing art from the likes of Lillie Blackie, Tony Hinchcliffe, Anna Schofield plus several more artists from all over the country.

The gallery’s curator, Trevor Horswell, has been at the helm for five years. He was excited for this exhibition as a land and sea-inspired show was heavily requested.

He said: “We haven’t done this theme in five years, and we have been asked to do it a lot.

“There is something for everyone, with a mix of styles that will suit everyone’s taste and price range.

“It was a lot of hard work putting it all up.”

The opening of the show proved to be successful, Horswell said: “It was a great start to the show, it was really busy on Saturday and we sold many pieces”.

The exhibition will end on April 14 as the gallery prepares for a more intimate project ‘Beyond Boundaries’, Which will open on May 25.

Mr Horswell said that the next exhibition will be “the biggest this year.”

It will host work from two artists, Colin Brown and Karen Welsh, who are both local to Wiltshire.

The exhibition will be Walsh’s first time presenting her work in Gallery 21, which will now be the exclusive dealer of her work in the area.

Walsh says that: “Every painting I make fills me with excitement and freedom. I love every one of them. There are endless possibilities to build the work to achieve the optimal outcome.”
