Activist and art dealer Amar Singh is set to reopen Amar Gallery in London with an exhibition titled ‘Dora Maar: Behind the Lens’.
The exhibition will showcase photographs and photograms from the Dora Maar Estate, celebrating her life and coinciding with the release of Louisa Treger’s book, The Paris Muse, which explores Maar’s relationship with Picasso.
The gallery is also collaborating with Nadia Jackson and Spiky Saul to produce the theatrical production Maar, Dora, which will be performed at Camden Fringe in August.
The exhibition will feature Maar’s surrealist works and photographs of Picasso and his famous anti-war painting, Guernica, for which Maar was the sole official photographer.
Part of the proceeds from the exhibition will support, anti-trafficking organizations in India dedicated to the protection of women and children, as told by Amar Singh.
