Each month or so, at the headquarters of Amy’s Kitchen in downtown Petaluma, the exterior picture-box windows are employed as a kind of walk-by art gallery, featuring an ever-changing array of artworks by artists from around the world. Currently, it’s Sebastian Curi, from Los Angeles. Originally trained as an animator and graphic designer, Curi employs a “lively graphic style,” with bright, saturated colors. The five pieces on display showcase some of the artist’s series of stylized hands in dynamic poses.
Aqus Cafe

Aqus Cafe’s vibrant new group show, titled “Rhythm, Reflection, Connection,” features a series of works by Gail Foulkes, Andree Young and Jennifer Mygatt Tatum. The show invites visitors to explore the interconnected title themes through a diverse expression of art. “Each piece invites you to pause, reflect and find your own place within the larger tapestry of life.”

The next show at the Magic Shop Studios gallery is a solo exhibition of paintings and sculptures by artist Ben Kellgren, whose work explores modern technology’s role in reshaping our perception of the natural world through mixed media pieces that combine organic surfaces with layers of grids and dots. Nanny Goat Gallery

Named for a picturesque hill in San Francisco, Petaluma’s Nanny Goat Gallery is an exciting and surprise-packed piece of Water Street’s art-and-dining revival. Located just a few doors south of Brewster’s Beer Garden, the new space, founded by Emily and Paul Eccles, has just opened its second exhibition, titled “Good vs. Evil,” open through October. Gallery hours are Thursday and Friday 2-5 p.m. and Saturday 12-5 p.m.

“Claiming Our Space” is a collective contemporary exhibition that draws art from 10 Bay Area studios supporting artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Opening with a grand reception on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Usher Gallery is “Unveiling the Self,” featuring works by Bay Area artist Priscilla Soares, originally of São Paulo, Brazil. Her work – which is informed in part by her experiences of losing most of her hearing as a child and losing her mother to cancer in her 30s – explores the ways we disconnect and reconnect to our true inner selves. San Rafael artist Kathy Pallie will open a new solo show this weekend at The Watershed’s 1st Street Gallery. Titled “INTERPLAY: Materials and Concepts,” the show kicks off with an afternoon reception from 1-4 p.m., and features striking combinations of fiber, ceramincs and natural materials.
