Arts workshops provide a deep dive into exhibiting – Bundaberg Now

Arts Industry Knowledge Workshops
The Arts Industry Knowledge Workshops will cover topics including installation basics, exhibition administration and gallery etiquette and artwork photography.

Art enthusiasts are invited to take part in an in-depth experience in one of three upcoming Arts Industry Knowledge Workshops hosted by Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery.

During the first three Tuesdays IN June, the workshops will cover topics including installation basics, exhibition administration and gallery etiquette and artwork photography.

Bundaberg Regional Council Arts, Heritage and Asset Management spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said the Arts Industry Knowledge Workshops mini-series had been developed in response to local artist’s requests for more support in exhibiting in gallery spaces. 

“These workshops are a fantastic opportunity for local artists to build new skills and extend their knowledge of industry best practice to better showcase their artwork,” Cr Learmonth said.

“The Arts Industry Knowledge Workshops mini-series will be presented by Council staff who have extensive experience in working in the arts. 

“Council is committed to assisting artists’ to develop their arts business skills and we see these workshops as an integral part of that development.”

Arts Industry Knowledge Workshops mini-series

Workshop 1: Installation Basics – Tuesday 4 June

Explore installation basics including hanging and the complexities of different types of works, the equipment you need to get the best results, useful tech tips, and accessibility considerations.

Workshop 2: Exhibition Administration – Tuesday 11 June

Explore the administrative side of being an artist, including loan agreements and artwork lists.
Gain an understanding of what needs to be included in exhibition statements, artist biographies, didactics and how to create an exhibition plans for curation.

Workshop 3: Gallery Etiquette and Artwork Photography – Tuesday 18 June

Explore gallery expectations for exhibiting artists, and the importance of being well organised.
This workshop includes a one-hour session with experienced art photographer Natasha Harth, who is also a former photographer for QAGOMA.
