Karolina Adams and Sarah Simmerman will present “Exploring Emotion,” an art exhibition that conveys universal life experiences.

The exhibit will be up for viewing from Monday, April 29 through Thursday, May 30 at Olney Gallery at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 100 W. Roosevelt St., in Phoenix.

A First Friday reception starts at 6 p.m. Friday, May 3.

Working in ink and graphite. Adams uses drawing to unload her feelings, thoughts and emotions, a press release notes. Her artwork uses a striped socks character to depict those feelings and stories.

“[My art is] about love and the happy moments that come with it. I share my struggles and triumphs,” Adams stated.

She has a BFA in interior architecture from Columbia College, Chicago, and has been in solo and group exhibitions in Arizona, Nevada, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Illinois.

Simmerman uses color and texture to convey a story of emotion and growth. She blends the abstract with structured elements, contrasting geometric patterns with organic forms.

According to a press release, her experiences with depression and anxiety inform her artistic process and inspiration.

“I use color to express myself, and my palette is chosen based on my current state of mind or memories,” Simmerman stated. “I am intrigued by how individuals can experience the same art differently based on their past experiences.”

She has a BFA in graphic design from the Savannah College of Art and Design and has exhibited her work in Texas, Virginia, and throughout Arizona.

The gallery is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, and by appointment on Friday.
