Haworth Art Gallery and Park to host ‘Connecting Cultures’ event

‘Connecting Cultures’ returns to Haworth Art Gallery and Park in Accrington for a second year on Sunday, June 16, from 10am until 4pm.

Set across the whole park and gallery grounds, performances will take place on a stage within a large marquee and in various pop-up tents.

There will also be an artisan market and pop-ups, including Finch Bakery desserts.

There will be free henna art, friendship bracelet and puppet making with Spring Into Action, heritage games led by the Friends of Haworth Art Gallery voluntary group, and the chance to visit the exhibitions and world-famous Tiffany Glass collection.

The event, which marks National Refugee Week, Eid celebrations, and Father’s Day, will also host a free main stage showcasing incredible performances such as tai chi, Just Imagine UK supported by Activ8 Lancs, an interactive dance performance from DanceSyndrome, poetry reading, and a Bollywood fusion dance demonstration and workshop.

A council spokesperson said: “Connecting Cultures is all about bringing local people and communities together to celebrate the great diversity we have here in Hyndburn.

 “We have a jam-packed day of free activities and performances for all the family to get involved in, there is something for everyone and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Haworth Art Gallery for a day to remember. Make sure the date is in your diary!”

A free heritage shuttle bus will be operating from Accrington town square to Haworth Art Gallery, organised by Hyndburn Borough Council.

Those attending are also encouraged to book a table in advance for the Gallery Kitchen, or pre-order a picnic box. To do so call 01254 491660.
