A NEW ART gallery has been opened at Solihull Hospital.
Showcasing a collection of artwork from Knowle Art Group, the gallery aims to create a calming and uplifting environment, supporting wellbeing through the power of art.
The space is designed to bring inspiration to staff, and comfort to patients as the last thing they see before going into their operating theatre.
The gallery is located on the bridge into the new operating theatre complex, which recently celebrated its first birthday.
To mark the opening of the gallery, Solihull Mayor, Councillor Annette Mackenzie, cut the ribbon and shared her flections on the positive impact of the project.
The Mayor said: “I am delighted to open this gallery, as I am sure it will have such a positive impact on patient experience. Art has a unique ability to transform spaces and bring joy, and we hope this will become a cherished part of the hospital.”
Lucy Henderson, senior sister in Theatres, said: “When I first had the idea, I didn’t realise how magical and impactful it could become.
“The feedback from staff and patients already has been amazing. We cannot thank the Knowle Art Group enough for their kind support, especially Hospital Governor Kath Bell.”
Pieces featured in the art gallery are available to purchase, with 10 per cent of proceeds going to Solihull Hospital Charity.
