The third featured artist, Koji Ogawa, graduated from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including being a candidate for the Ueno Royal Museum Award in 1990 and receiving the Beppu Contemporary Painting Exhibition Mayor’s Prize Semi-Grand Prize in 1995. Since 2006, he has been an active member of the Kokuga-kai, exhibiting his works at the Kokuga-kai Exhibition (Kokuten) and holding solo exhibitions.
The works on display, including the “Ukiyo Fuji” series (2022, 2023) which pays homage to Katsushika Hokusai’s “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji,” and “Enoden – Kamakura High School Front -” (2023), are characterized by the impressive depiction of Mount Fuji prominently in the center. The bold and vibrant colors of these works are sure to energize viewers.
