Raymond Assirati has applied for planning permission to convert the ground floor of Chequer House near the Custom House in King’s Lynn.
A planning statement says: “Chequer House is mostly comprised of a modern office building set behind the buildings of King Street.
“The art gallery will commence with one association as the only exhibitor. It is hoped this will rise to three exhibiting associations in future.

“Although it is hard to gauge, it is hoped for 15,000 visitors per annum, giving rise to around 500 art pieces being sold per annum.”
It adds the tea room is expected to attract 18,000 customers a year and will sell cold snacks, sandwiches and cakes.
While the building’s frontage forms part of a listed building, the statement adds: “The proposal does not change the rooms forming part of the listed structure.”
A decision from West Norfolk Council is expected later this year.
