An art gallery in Coventry is offering a real life ‘Night at the Museum’ experience, inviting visitors to sleep under the famous . The world famous Diplodocus skeleton is currently residing at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. Now curators are offering a rare opportunity to ‘Doze Under Dippy’.
Measuring a massive 26-metres long, this Jurassic giant is a sight to behold in the daytime so we can only imagine how it will look at night! As part of the event, guests will also be able to go on torchlit tours of the museum.
There will also be arts and crafts activities in the evening, and a chance to get hands on with the fossil collection whilst learning fun facts about the life-size replica. Families can then wind down with a short film in the museum’s studio before the lights go out at 11.30pm and everyone tries to settle down to sleep underneath the huge dinosaur.

Breakfast will then be served between 7am to 8am, and there will be a ‘wake up and shake up’ dino-inspired routine to get you energised for the day before heading off at 9am.
“Come and experience a truly unique family experience with our Doze Under Dippy sleepovers,” said a spokesman for the Herbert Art Gallery. “Stay overnight in the museum, snoozing under the feet of a 26-metre Diplodocus!
“Join us for a night of exploration and fun-filled activities designed for children aged 6 – 11 and their grown-ups. This will be a night you will always remember!”

For more than 100 years, Dippy has been delighting visitors of all ages at the Natural History Museum in London. He then came to Birmingham Art Gallery and Museum’s Gas Hall and is now in Coventry. Dippy is a replica of a dinosaur that lived 155-145 million years ago.
