CASPER, Wyo. — Artists from across the Natrona County community and beyond submitted some of their proudest artwork to the annual Art of Pride art gallery, hosted each June by Casper Pride. This year, the gallery is being housed at Scarlow’s Art and Coffee, 122 West 2nd St.
Pieces on display utilize a variety of artistic mediums and methods, and also showcase different aspects of the LGBT community.
“The art show is really about capturing the queer identity and all the many forms that can take,” Casper Pride resources director Gage Williams said. “We basically just asked the artists to show themselves. It didn’t have to be full of rainbows or anything like that; we just wanted them to showcase something authentic to them.”
Williams said the gallery features roughly 50 pieces from artists throughout Casper, Wyoming and beyond.
“There are pieces from artists around Casper, the midwest and even further than that,” Williams said. “All the way out to New Jersey, I think, is the furthest an artist is from.”
When submitting their works, it was up to the individual artist whether or not they wanted their piece to be for sale, and Williams said about half the artists said they wanted their art to be for sale.
The exhibit will remain on display at Scarlow’s through the end of the month.
