Second edition of annual event will be held from noon to 7 p.m. on Aug. 4
The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery will be hosting a Heritage Day Hootenanny next month.
The second edition of the annual event will be held from noon to 7 p.m. on Aug. 4 in the south end of Rotary Recreation Park and inside the museum.
“We know that affordability is a going concern within our community, so we are aiming to produce a multi-faceted, high quality, creative and cultural event that is free and fun for anyone to attend,” said Chandra Kastern, executive director.
“We’ve been busy planning for some great art making, live music performances, food trucks, museum tours and a whole area for children and families to explore.”
The day will feature performances by Red Hot Hayseeds, Tim Hus, Boots Graham, Steph Strings and Noeline Hofmann.
In partnership with the Red Deer Arts Council, the Hootenanny will facilitate the relaunch of the Art Walk. The southeast part of Rotary Recreation Park will host an extensive Art Walk and Market with creative treasures and unique finds for folks to check out.
The event will also feature art-making opportunities, tours of the museum galleries that run on the half hour, and woodblock printing inside the School House in Heritage Square. Additionally, Buckaroo’s Hollow will be open in the southwest part of Rotary Recreation Park.
