This Gorgeous Art Maze Has Popped Up In London For Summer

London’s looking a whole lot brighter thanks to summer’s return, and there’s a brand-new installation in Brent Cross that’s solidifying that notion on an epic scale. A fantastical maze has popped up in the area, utilising dramatic and vibrant colours to pay homage to the area’s quickly-evolving, and totally artsy makeover.

If you haven’t heard, North London’s Brent Cross Town is undergoing quite the transformation. Famed for its shopping centre, the redevelopment is one of Europe’s largest mixed-use urban regeneration projects that’s currently being delivered, and with that comes a whole lot of fun!

This maze installation invites visitors to explore and involve themselves within its colourful panels, and it will evolve throughout the summer within its three-month lifecycle, as three celebrated female mural artists from the UK and Sweden will each be commissioned to create a unique piece of art over different days, enabling visitors to have a different experience on each visit.

Opened officially on Thursday 27 June and available to view daily from 10am to 6pm until the 29th of September, the Maze is located in the area’s gorgeous green space, Claremont Park.

The first of the artistic panels was created live over the course of two days by Swedish artist Amara Por Dios. The other artists involved in the project are Brighton-based Lois O’Hara, and east London’s Josephine Hicks (known as Hixxy).

Once The Maze finishes its run in Brent Cross, it will even make its way to the London Mural Festival (5-29 September), the capital’s largest street art celebration.

Morwenna Hall, Executive Director at Related Argent (who are partners in the Brent Cross redevelopment), commented: “The Maze’s bold, bright design captures the essence of Brent Cross Town as a burgeoning destination full of possibility, which is becoming increasingly embedded within London’s cultural environment.”

However, it doesn’t stop there, as The Maze is a recent addition to a series of permanent artworks already in place in Brent Cross Town, and contributes to a continually evolving Arts Trail through the neighbourhood. For more information, click here to visit their website.

You’ll be able to view The Maze daily at Claremont Park in Brent Cross, from 10am to 6pm until the 29th of September.
