JAKARTA – Art exhibitions can be an option for recreation during the Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijri holiday.
In downtown Jakarta, there are galleries holding free exhibitions to the public, including the ROH Project and Zen1 Gallery.
The ROH Project art gallery on Jalan Surabaya Number 66, Cikini, Central Jakarta, can be an option for those who want to watch art exhibitions for the public.
The gallery, which is about 250 meters from the Surabaya Bus Stop and about 750 meters from Cikini Station, is open every day except Monday, Tuesday, and national holidays from 13.00 to 19.00 on weekdays and 11.00 to 19.00 on weekends.
Until June 23, 2024, the gallery held an exhibition of paintings and art installations by Agus Suwage and Nadya Jiwa.
Another Agus Suwage Antara featured the installation of “Monumen Ego”, a 5.5 meter high statue built from blocks of zinc panels and paintings. Meanwhile, Nadya Jiwa showed off 11 paintings with the title “Adar”.
According to a guide at the ROH gallery, Nabila Saladina, it is better to visit the gallery in the morning or evening when visitors are not congested. On Sunday afternoon, queues of gallery visitors were up to 35 people.
The Zen1 Gallery (read: Art Gallery) Jakarta has been open since 2023 and is a branch of the Zen1 Gallery in Bali.
The Gallery, which is located on Jalan Purworejo Number 24, Dukuh Atas, Menteng, Central Jakarta, shows off 25 to 30 collections of paintings from contemporary Indonesian artists.
Gallery is open free to the public from 11.00 to 19.00 on weekdays and 09.00 to 20.00 WIB on weekends.
Visitors who want to come in groups should make a reservation one day before the visit.
This gallery can be reached using the electric rail train down at Sudirman Station or the TransJakarta bus corridor 4C and 2P down at the Tosari 1 Bus Stop, then walking about 230 meters.
According to Gallery Manager Zen1 Gunawan Santoso, the artwork exhibited in the gallery varies every month.
He said that public figures had participated in art activities at the Zen1 Gallery, includingKaton Bagaskara, Helmy Yahya, and Chelsea Islan.
