A man who was linked to an alleged £7 million fraud in the United States has been jailed for carrying out a cryptocurrency scam in Scotland.
Robert Barr, 27, fooled workers at the broadcast giant Sky into handing over another person’s account details before using them to illegally obtain “significant sums” of cryptocurrency. He was arrested in June 2022 and has been jailed for 21 months at Airdrie sheriff court after admitting to committing a fraudulent scheme.
Police Scotland welcomed his conviction.
