Eric Trump touts sending $500 million in crypto — and is immediately roasted

November 13, 20252 Mins Read

Critics ruthlessly mocked Eric Trump on Thursday over his latest promotion of cryptocurrency on Fox Business.

The president’s son criticized traditional banking during a segment on Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria”, in which he complained about wire transfers not being able to be sent instantaneously. He then suggested that cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin, can be sent instantly.

“There’s no reason at five o’clock on a Friday afternoon, I shouldn’t be able to send out a swift wire transfer. Right now, you can’t. I try and make a transfer every single week, and you’re trying to push before the five o’clock deadline to either receive money or to get it out. How is that modern day finance?” he said.

“You can send $500 million worth of bitcoin on a Sunday night at 5 p.m. while having a glass of wine with your wife, for virtually zero fees,” Trump, the co-founder of American Bitcoin, said.

Critics immediately seized on the comments to argue Trump is out of touch with everyday Americans.

“Don’t let anyone tell you the Trumps are out of touch with rising costs,” MSNBC’s Matt Fuller wrote in response to Trump’s comments.

Political commentator Franklin Leonard posted in response: “Is that before or after you figure out how you’re going to feed your family without the SNAP payments his father went to the Supreme Court to suspend? Or pay the health care costs his administration has made sure to skyrocket? I just want to get the sequencing right.”

The Bulwark’s Sam Stein wrote: “I’m just like Eric. Except on my Sunday nights I’m trying to order my Instacart for the family while the low grade gummy kicks in.”

The Bulwark’s Colin Jones also quipped: “Just like every normal American does.”

MeidasTouch editor-in-chief Ron Filipkowski also had a sarcastic comment.

“They love you, MAGA. Everything they do is for you,” he said on X.

And MeidasTouch sarcastically declared Trump, the “Man of the people”.
