Man receives threat while checking cryptocurrency transaction: Chagrin Falls Police Blotter

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio

Harassment: Hall Street

A man, 73, reported at 4:33 p.m. Sept. 12 that he had been threatened by an unknown person through the messaging app WhatsApp.

The threat occurred while he was trying to ask a question about a transaction he had previously made through the cryptocurrency app PointBK Pro.

The nature of the threat was not available on the initial police report.

Fraud: Hamlet Hills

An 84-year-old woman reported fraudulent activity on her bank account at 3:21 p.m. Sept. 10.

Police learned that the crimes were committed while she lived in another city. Her bank’s fraud department will handle any further investigation.

Family trouble: Maple Street

A woman’s son caused a disturbance after the woman refused to return the 18-year-old’s fake ID.

The mother called police at 3:28 p.m. Sept. 9. Officers spoke to the mother and son separately and determined that their interaction did not rise to a criminal level.

She was advised of resources to contact and decided to leave the home for a while to defuse the situation.

Missing juvenile: West Washington Street

A 15-year-old boy reported missing at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 was found and returned to his home.

The Chagrin Falls High School student had left information indicating that he intended to run away to an unknown location.
