Trump says Joe Biden wants cryptocurrency ‘to die a slow and painful death’

May 25, 20241 Min Read

Once a critic of cryptocurrencies, Donald Trump now says he is “very positive and open minded to cryptocurrency companies.”

The former president once said cryptocurrencies were a “disaster waiting to happen,” but over the weekend he took to Truth Social, his own social media network, to praise crypto companies and hit at his political opponent, President Joe Biden. This comes just after Trump’s campaign reportedly began accepting cryptocurrencies.

In an all-caps message, Trump doubled down on his recent efforts to embrace crypto.

“I AM VERY POSITIVE AND OPEN MINDED TO CRYPTOCURRENCY COMPANIES, AND ALL THINGS RELATED TO THIS NEW AND BURGEONING INDUSTRY,” the ex-president wrote. “OUR COUNTRY MUST BE THE LEADER IN THE FIELD. THERE IS NO SECOND PLACE.”

Then, Trump went on to proclaim Biden’s intentions regarding the new currencies.

“CROOKED JOE BIDEN, ON THE OTHER HAND, THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY, WANTS IT TO DIE A SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH,” Trump said Saturday. “THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN WITH ME!”
