Webinar: Energizing Green Investment Through Unlocking Private Finance in the Pacific

UNDP’s Project funded the by the Government of Japan on Promoting Green Transformation in the Pacific Region
towards Net-zero and Climate-resilient Development in Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu, and Samoa
enhancing secure and sustainable development through green transformation. This Project’s objectives are to help
Pacific countries in addressing urgent, necessary, unpredictable, and irreplaceable needs to achieve ambitious climate actions. As part of the Project, South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) will be promoted to enhance knowledge exchange among the four Pacific countries and other developing nations in the Asia-Pacific region. These knowledge sharing activities will be conducted through a series of webinars and workshops.

This webinar is the inaugural event of the SSTC activities planned under this project. It provides a discussion platform for regional experts and policymakers from the four project-focus Pacific countries as well as interested audiences, to exchange views on promoting green investment through private sector participation in the renewable energy sector. Representatives from the four Pacific countries will present their country-specific opportunities and challenges on the topic. Experts from academia, private sector and investors will share their views and examples of successful cases from other countries.

Objectives

  • Facilitate intra- and interregional open dialogue among leading experts in the field and representatives of Pacific Island countries.
  • Discuss, analyze and select practical strategies for private sector participation in the renewable energy sector in the Pacific region.
  • Encourage knowledge cooperation and promote regional collaboration among Pacific countries and
    development partners in green transformation.
