Leeds United have a new investor at the club in the form of Hollywood star Will Ferrell, joining with a minority stake in the club.
The 49ers have done a great job so far of restructuring at Elland Road for the better, whether it be the playing squad, or all the way up to the boardroom setup.
Such work from the NFL franchise has ensured that Leeds remain a significant pull for celebrities wanting to invest as well.
Will Ferrell confirmed as new Leeds, 49ers investor
In the aftermath to Leeds’ loss at home to Southampton last weekend, it was revealed that the club have a new investor under the 49ers’ majority ownership.
Hollywood icon Will Ferrell is the latest big name to be involved in the Elland Road setup, boasting a reported net worth of $160million (£128million).
Ferrell is not expected to have any major say in proceedings at the club, but joins the list of notable investors in the club such as sports stars Michael Phelps, Jordan Speith, Justin Thomas, Larry Nance Jr, Russell Westbrook, as well as fellow actor Russell Crowe.
Who will win the playoffs?
“Grateful” – Daniel Farke reacts to Will Ferrell news
The news was a talking-point for Farke as he previewed Leeds’ trip to Norwich City for the playoff semi-final.
Speaking about Ferrell joining the club’s investment structure, Farke said this (via the YEP):
“We need each and every man, it’s always good. Great actor, we are all happy that he is on board, but I don’t think it will help us much at Norwich to bring the ball into the rectangle. Says a lot about the calibre of the club. We are grateful for a lot of our well-known supporters. But it’s up to the players to bring the success. We can’t act the ball over the line, we have to shoot it.”
As Farke says, it’s a huge pull from Leeds
Having these celebrities on board counts for very little if you don’t have the results to back it up, but it is a nice boost for our commercial size.
We have one of the biggest comic actors in the world on our books, and that will only be a good thing for our growth in the future.
You would imagine that the moves from the 49ers in the past year have boosted our chances of being a popular brand in American significantly.
