Debt in exchange for green investments. Two countries promise President Japarov to write off $120 million
AKIPRESS.COM – President Sadyr Japarov outlined the steps undertaken by Kyrgyzstan in development of green economy in an interview with Kabar news agency.
“I won’t lie if I say that Kyrgyzstan is on leading positions in transition to green economy. We are building more than 60 small and medium hydropower plants across the country. The plants are built to use energy of the sun and wind,” the President stated.
The electric car plant will be launched this year, the President said.
“Besides, I am holding talks with several countries on write-off of our external debt and its exchange for green economy investments. Two countries preliminarily promised to write off $120 million of our external debt. If everything is fine, we will get rid of this debt until the end of the year. Of course, the funds will be used for green economy transition. We will turn our country into green country,” President Japarov concluded.
