Maven noted Mr McGill is a qualified chartered accountant “with corporate finance experience across a number of sectors and transactions, including building products, haulage and logistics, specialist engineering, aquaculture, whisky and sport technology.

Maven has offices in Aberdeen , Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Last year, it was appointed as one of the managers of the new £150 million Investment Fund for Scotland, of which IFS – Maven Equity Finance is part.

IFS – Maven Equity Finance has already made investments in businesses including life sciences firm Carcinotech, medical technology company Calcivis, and University of Glasgow spinout Nami Surgical.

Maven said this underscored its “commitment to nurturing innovative businesses in the Scottish regions and driving their growth to realise their full potential”.

Alan Robertson, partner at Maven, said: “Last year was transformational for Maven in Scotland, with IFS creating exciting opportunities for businesses looking for funding to fuel their growth plans.

“The team expansion marks another milestone in Maven’s track record of identifying and developing high-potential businesses, demonstrating the strength of our investment approach and the opportunity in the regional private equity sector to drive innovation and growth. We’re delighted to welcome Victoria, Craig and James to the team as we ramp up IFS support for local companies.”

Maven noted the purpose of the Investment Fund for Scotland is to “drive sustainable economic growth by supporting innovation and creating local opportunity for new and growing businesses across Scotland”.

It added: “The Investment Fund for Scotland will increase the supply and diversity of early-stage finance for smaller businesses in Scotland, providing funds to firms that might otherwise not receive investment and help to break down barriers in access to finance.”
