THE Caversham Picture Framer will welcome the family of the late painter and printmaker, Mary Louise Coulouris, this evening (Friday) to celebrate her works in its current exhibition.
The special event starts at 5.30pm, with Mary’s daughter, Saro Wallace, giving a talk at 6.30pm. Visitors can meet Mary’s family, view some of her pictures and enjoy wine, nibbles and music at the gallery at 5A Church Road, Caversham.
Coulouris (1939-2011) was born in New York and spent her formative years in Beverly Hills after her father, the actor George Coulouris, secured a role in Citizen Kane. She started painting at the age of 11 after visiting the Hollywood film studios.
Later, she lived in West Lothian in Scotland and had a second home in Greece, where she would paint seascapes.
She described herself as a “post-postmodernist” and her work included murals for Linlithgow station and Royal Edinburgh Hospital as well as watercolours for the House of Lords.
The exhibition, featuring original paintings and limited edition prints, runs until Thursday, May 16.
