The museum relaunched in March 2025 following a major transformation, unveiling the new‑look Heart of Cornwall, Nature Gallery and Art Gallery. In the 12 months since, it has recorded outstanding visitor numbers, according to Co‑Director Bryony Robins.
“We reopened in March 2025 with the new-look Heart of Cornwall, Nature Gallery and Art Gallery, and have recorded outstanding visitor numbers in the 12 months that followed,” she said.
“We want to thank our communities for their incredible support throughout our transformation so far by making the museum free to all this coming Saturday. We look forward to welcoming visitors to celebrate this achievement together.”
The free‑entry day comes just months after the museum received initial support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund in December 2025.
The funding will help develop plans for the final stage of its ongoing transformation, with the museum aiming to submit a full National Lottery grant application in 2027.
The museum is encouraging visitors to book ahead online, although free registration will also be available at the Welcome Desk on the day.
Anyone who enjoys their visit can upgrade to an Adult Annual Pass for £10, while under‑18s are always admitted free.
