Next Sunday, April 14th, over 70 pieces will be displayed at Betzalel Art Gallery and Besht Center in Crown Heights all day. An evening event will feature inspiration from the esteemed panel of judges and advisors including Yitzchok Moully, Rabbi Mendel Wolff, and Michoel Muchnik. The 6 winners will be announced and prizes presented.
Contestants from near and far have submitted art pieces for both the professional and hobbyist tiers. Seasoned artists and young up-and-coming alike put their skills to the test, mastering a Chassidic concept and expressing it through their G-d-given talents and hard work.
“We have been overwhelmed by the interest in this competition, and are honored by the 166 submissions received,” says organizer Rabbi Menachem Meltzer. “Art WhatsApp groups were popping, schools abuzz, and hundreds of people really worked hard on spreading Chassidus.”
The event is free RSVP for our contestants and $10 RSVP for the public. Art will be displayed all day in the Betzalel Art Gallery and The Besht Center next door.
This will offer an opportunity for contestants to meet the judges in person for further feedback on their work. All the art pieces to be featured have been professionally framed to ensure the presentation is top-notch. With original art sent in from as far as Israel and the UK, the display offers the chance to inquire about or purchase unique art pieces from artists within the community.
A publication featuring the art is in the works, which will undoubtedly serve as an exciting Coffee-table book to enhance your Pesach festivities. Featuring the best of the professional art pieces received together with educational Chassidus ideas.
The Chassidus in Color contest is in partnership with Rabbi Simon Jacobson’s MyLife ChassidusApplied.com and exclusively on COLlive.com. Ezri for Life and ArtToFrame.com have donated prizes.
