Nature in Art reveals must-see exhibitions this spring 2026

March 4, 20262 Mins Read

Showcasing works from watercolours to paintings created entirely from mineral pigments, Nature in Art in Twigworth has revealed a trio of exciting exhibitions coming to the museum in spring 2026.

The season starts with ‘Sacred Earth: Water, Tree, Stone’ from Tuesday 31 March until Sunday 10 May 2026, featuring, for the very first time at Nature in Art, a collection created entirely with raw earth and rock pigments turned into paint and ink by artist, Fiona McIntyre.

Deeply inspired by her experiences of living in Scotland, Iceland and Spain and reflective of the artist’s recent creative revelations, this immersive collection features wild landscapes in all weathers, captured in mineral pigments and inks made from foraged materials, that Fiona believes contain the light and memory of the landscapes they were sourced from.

Alongside the exhibition, Fiona is also hosting a two-day workshop on turning natural materials into paints and inks on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May 2026.

‘Animal A-Z’ opens on Tuesday 21 April and runs until Sunday 7 June 2026, with 26 different exhibits from 26 different artists.

Depicting the incredible diversity found within the natural world, each piece represents a year of the 21st century and highlights the aims of the UN Global Diversity Framework, which aims to halt human-induced species extinction by 2050, restore degraded ecosystems and improve worldwide biodiversity.

Then from Tuesday 12 May until Sunday 21 June 2026, ‘Crucifixion’ from internationally acclaimed artist, Darrell Wenner, is a powerful and at times uncomfortable collection of natural history paintings that both mourn and celebrate the lives of the UK’s native birds.

Inspired by his experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic, where the artist was haunted by the deaths of birds caused by human actions or environments, he set out on a mission to record these beautiful deceased birds in watercolour, from the common blackbird to the secretive water rail, to raise awareness of the loss of avian life across the country due to everything from green belt development to apathy.

Entry to all three exhibitions is included in the price of general admission – which costs £7.50 for adults or £6.75 for concessions – and there’s no need to pre-book, just visit during Nature in Art’s opening hours of 10am to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday.
