Can You Name Them All? Ryde’s Smallest Art Gallery Gets Caricature Makeover

October 14, 20242 Mins Read

Local creative Adam Brown has filled Ryde’s smallest art gallery with caricatures of well-known people, all of whom have an Isle of Wight connection.

For the next seven weeks, you’ll find musicians, comedians, actors and one or two surprises.

Many have performed at the Isle of Wight Festival and some have made a home on the Island.

A former Art teacher, Adam has recently moved into the live caricature business, producing original drawings on demand at a wide variety of events including weddings and corporate events.

About Re:Box

Re:Box is Ryde’s smallest art gallery based in a classic Kiosk No.6 red phone box on Lind Street.

Through BT’s Adopt a Kiosk initiative, Ryde Town Council purchased the box for £1 and turned it over to Anmarie Bowler and Zoë Barker, a pair of local creatives determined to give this decommissioned piece of street furniture a new lease of life.

Lit from the inside, when night falls Re:Box transforms into a lightbox that creates the magical impression of glowing stained glass.

Zoë and Anmarie are working on the creative programme for 2025.
