Hill View Primary School visit Southampton City Art Gallery

April 2, 20262 Mins Read

Pupils from Hill View Primary School in Bournemouth, part of the Reach South Academy Trust, recently visited Southampton City Art Gallery as part of the school’s commitment to a creative and engaging art and design programme.

During the visit, pupils explored both permanent and temporary exhibitions, including works in painting, sculpture, photography, drawing and film.

Victoria Buckland, headteacher at Hill View Primary School, said: “We believe that experiences like visiting Southampton City Art Gallery are vital in bringing learning to life.

“They inspire our pupils, nurture creativity and help children see themselves as artists.

“It’s important to us that every child feels valued and experiences success through art.”

The gallery, situated in Southampton’s cultural quarter and open to the public since 1939, offers a diverse range of high-quality exhibitions.

The visit supports Hill View’s vision of providing meaningful, real-world arts experiences that enhance pupils’ creativity, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

Art and design is central to the school’s integrated curriculum, which encourages children to develop their skills in drawing, painting, and sculpture.

The school regularly collaborates with artists and cultural organisations to help broaden pupils’ horizons and support their personal growth through the arts.
