GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) – Local artists are getting a new opportunity to let their artwork shine thanks to a partnership between Island View Casino and Gulfport Art Gallery.
Beach Boulevard Steamer is now hanging these art pieces around the restaurant to display.
Those who come in can purchase the art and take it home. All proceeds will go directly to the artists.
The goal is to give these local artists exposure.
Island View Casino Manager of Entertainment and Community Engagement Debbie Brister says, “Island View likes to partner with the community so we’re excited that it’s with artists that we can display and give them the exposure they need to make some sales for their works.”
Artists who will have their work displayed are excited for the opportunity.
Local artist and art teacher Debra Baldinger says, “You know I like for people to get to see it. Hopefully, like it and buy it. I just like the idea that people enjoy it. It’s in someone’s house where people get to enjoy it. So, I’m real excited about it.”
The Gulfport Chamber of Commerce also gave a small business grant of $1,000 to the Gulfport Art Gallery to help support the art.
