Malvern Hills Vintage to open in ex Iapetus gallery building

February 26, 20252 Mins Read

‘Malvern Hills Vintage’, run by local antique dealer Lee Hammond, will open its doors at 34 Bellevue Terrace on Saturday, March 1.

Mr Hammond has been an antiques dealer for over 20 years and established Malvern Hills Vintage almost a decade ago.

He has run shops in areas such as Upton Upon Severn and Ledbury at various points over the past two decades.

However, this is the first shop he has run in around four years.

He said: “There have been thriving antiques businesses in Malvern previously and the sector as a whole is quite buoyant.

“It has been an exciting time for me, the word has spread around that we will be opening and a lot of people have been dropping by and saying they were looking forward to it.

“I have been encouraged by the amount of people who have shown interest, I am looking forward to it, and hopefully it will appeal to tourists as well and bring more tourism into the town.”

The shop will be open between 10am and 5pm every Thursday to Saturday and will close at 4pm on Sunday.

Mr Hammond added: “I am passionate about antiques from all eras and have seen my business evolve to include not only high-quality traditional antiques but also the more unusual and quirky vintage items.

“It is exciting to introduce a new generation to the advantages of using antiques in their homes.”

The new shop at Bellevue Terrace will showcase Mr Hammonds collection of art, antiques and other vintage finds.

Items currently for sale on the Malvern Hills Vintage website include a 19th-century solid mahogany piano stool, a large signed genuine Scottie Wilson painting and a Royal Worcester fruit painted twin handled vase.

The building has been empty since August when Iapetus Gallery, which had consistently been voted Malvern’s number-one gift shop, closed its doors for the final time after 18 years.

The former gallery, which sold unique handmade jewellery, gifts, homeware and art to Malvern, closed after owners Anna Brook and Chris Marks decided they needed to find a less ‘stressful relationship with work.’
