MEDIUM Art Gallery seeks artwork from young creators for upcoming exhibit • The Mendocino Voice

February 12, 20252 Mins Read

UKIAH, CA., 2/12/25 — The Deep Valley Arts Collective, a nonprofit based in Ukiah, has announced a call for submissions from young local artists who want to showcase their artwork at the MEDIUM Art Gallery, the collective’s space located in the Pear Tree Center.

The Deep Valley Arts Collective was founded by three local artists, Meredith Hudson, Chris Pugh and Lillian Rubie, who sought to support artists’ growth in the Mendocino County community. The collective opened the MEDIUM gallery in 2021, and since then, the collective has assisted hundreds of artists by displaying and promoting their work through exhibitions and group shows at the gallery.

The collective is dedicated to commission-free art sales, ensuring that artists who sell their work through the gallery space receive 100 percent of the commission.

The Deep Valley Arts Collective is inviting young creators, 18 or under, to submit their artwork to the MEDIUM Art Gallery by Feb. 23. According to the gallery’s website, all mediums will be accepted. The pieces chosen for the final selection will be displayed at the gallery as part of a group exhibit, starting March 7.

Artists can submit their work for free, but pieces must be framed or mounted to hang on the gallery’s walls. The collective will not accept artwork created by AI platforms such as Firefly and Midjourney. The exhibit will run from March 7-29.

Those 18 or younger who are interested in submitting artwork for the MEDIUM Art Gallery’s upcoming exhibit can review the requirements by clicking this link. The deadline for entries is Feb. 23 at 11:59 p.m. For more information or assistance in preparing art for display, people can email info@deepvalleyarts.org.
