Beckstones Art Gallery, located in Greystoke Ghyll, will host Tim Gustard’s latest solo show, titled Looking for the Light, from May 16 until May 31.

The exhibition features 23 new paintings created over the past two years.

Mr Gustard, who moved to Cumbria in 1997 and now lives in Stainton near Penrith, is known for his technical skill and intricate compositions.

He is known to dedicate hundreds of hours to a single painting, and often works seven days a week.

His work features glass, porcelain, silver, flowers, and even miniature self-portraits, each rendered with lifelike precision.

Beckstones Art Gallery has represented Mr Gustard for more than 29 years.

Beckstones said in a statement: “Tim is a truly great artist with an outstanding technical ability and a relentless desire to develop and evolve.

“Each and every Gustard painting is very much a labour of love and it’s not unusual for Tim to work 7 days a week, spending several hundred hours on one painting.”

Many of Mr Gustard’s previous exhibitions have nearly sold out.

Beckstones said: “All Tim’s previous exhibitions have been hugely successful with almost the entire collection quickly sold.

“Silver, glass, porcelain, the most delicate flowers and even miniature reflected self portraits are all portrayed with a remarkable realism almost hard to comprehend.

“Textures are so carefully observed and the illusion of real space between the objects so masterfully created that it is plain to see why Tim is regarded as one of the finest still life artists in existence today.”

Mr Gustard’s work is regularly exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour at the Mall Galleries in London.

He has also had his work exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Scottish Society of Watercolour Painters, and the Royal Glasgow Institute.

Mr Gustard has contributed articles to The Artist magazine and has also appeared on television.

He is assisted in his work by his wife Marion, who helps with titles, composition ideas, and feedback.

Outside of painting, Mr Gustard enjoys fishing and is well known in angling circles.

Individual paintings are priced from £2,400.

A full exhibition catalogue is available online at www.beckstonesartgallery.co.uk.

The gallery is open every day during the exhibition, from 10am to 4.30pm.
