A fresh artist’s impression reveals how the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery might appear following a £5 million investment.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has released a fresh artist’s impression, revealing how the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery might appear following a £5 million investment.

Last year, the council secured the funds from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, alongside Arts Council England.

This initiative represents the third phase of a broader masterplan, building on previous efforts to integrate the new Spitfire Gallery and the City’s Archive into a unified ‘collections hub.’

Since obtaining this latest funding, the council has collaborated with architects to develop plans aimed at transforming the much-loved attraction.

The newly released images are intended to gather public feedback and insights from museum visitors before construction commences in 2025.

This planned renovation, coinciding with the city’s centenary celebrations, will ensure the museum is both modernised and improved for future generations to enjoy.

Longer-term aspirations include seeking additional funding to reimagine and refurbish the galleries, further establishing the city as a global centre for ceramics.

Councillor Jane Ashworth, leader of the council and cabinet member for strategy, economic development, culture and sport, said: “The plan is to create a striking building and new spaces to showcase our city’s world class museum collections while enhancing the experience for visitors.”
