OSAC Showcase provides options for Weyburn Art Gallery, now booking into 2026 – DiscoverWeyburn.com

Members of the Weyburn Arts Council and the Weyburn Concert Series were in Saskatoon this past weekend for the Annual Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC) Showcase. 

Curator with the Weyburn Art Gallery Regan Lanning said OSAC enables these groups to check out musical performances and visual arts exhibitions to help determine what will make it to each of the home communities.

“Shows that I get to take in and choose to see which ones I feel would be a good fit here, and then there’s always some Arts Council development training for the Council to be strong,” she shared. “This time we also had a wonderful presentation about Metis history.”

The event is a great networking experience, noted Lanning, bringing together Arts Councils from all over the province, including Hudson Bay, La Ronge, Swift Current, and Yorkton.

“It’s a great meeting of the minds in terms of culturally-minded people,” she said. “OSAC does so much for our Arts Councils. Zoe Schneider is the visual arts coordinator and she works tirelessly around the whole calendar year, putting together exhibitions that ship all over our province safely so the art is not damaged. She has to come up with packaging, support documents, insurance values, all that stuff is already done for us.”

“It’s a great way of getting art that necessarily I wouldn’t have access to as an independent curator because it’s contracted by OSAC for a number of years to travel our province and then we get to pick which ones we feel would be the best for our gallery.”

While OSAC doesn’t dictate which shows will make their rounds to Weyburn, they provide options from which to choose. 

Lanning added she is currently booking exhibitions into 2026 for the Weyburn Art Gallery.
