‘Sculpt’ Event to Launch Tucson J Fine Art Gallery Season

July 21, 20252 Mins Read

“Bat Yam: Daughter of the Sea” by Lyubov Muravyeva, at the Tucson Jewish Community Center Sculpture Garden

To kick off the 2025-2026 Fine Art Gallery Season and celebrate the introduction of new works to the Jill Rosenzweig Memorial Sculpture Garden, the Tucson J proudly presents Sculpt: Sculpting the Season, An Evening of Art, Intention & Renewal on Sunday, Sept. 14 from 4-6pm.

This event serves as the closing reception for Sculpt: A Celebration of Sculpture, an indoor sculpture show in the J’s Fine Art Gallery, and welcomes five new temporary pieces into the Jill Rosenzweig Memorial Sculpture Garden as a juried exhibit.

Guests are invited to wander through the Sculpture Garden, guided by reflective prompts and poetic quotes; enjoy live music from Leila Lopez and Rebecca Foreman, wine pairings, and a delicious charcuterie spread from Humbleboard.  The evening also includes gallery talks with featured artists who will share not only about what they created, but why.

Unlike in year’s past, where the event has been solely about the art, Sculpt: Sculpting the Season honors the spirit of Elul, the Jewish month of introspection and return marked by the holiday of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year). Just as Elul invites us to reshape ourselves through teshuvah (return and renewal), sculpture reveals what’s possible when we carve, mold, or uncover something new from what already exists.

“I am excited to welcome the community to Sculpt: Sculpting the Season, a true celebration of creativity, reflection, and new beginnings,” said Chloe Loos, Director of Arts + Culture at the Tucson J. “This evening invites us all to slow down, engage deeply, and connect with artists, with community, and with our own creativity. It will be a unique and meaningful way to experience sculpture – one that we hope stays with you long after the night is over.”

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, head to https://tucsonjcc.org/programs-events/arts-culture-community/
