If you’ve yet to venture west for London’s beautiful Kew Gardens, then this is your sign to do so, especially if you’re into art and catching all the latest exhibitions to hit the capital. Marc Quinn: Light into Life is a spectacular showcase of the renowned British artist who specialises in contemporary sculpture and installation.
There are seven stunning sculptures now nestled all around the gardens, alongside a presentation of Quinn’s other works like paintings, drawings, and beyond.
However, it’s the magnificent sculptures that are focal point in this unmissable exhibition; made out of stainless steel and bronze, they are all strikingly positioned to contrast with the surrounding tranquillity found at Kew Gardens.
They are even inspired by two pinnacle themes that reign true to Kew’s ethos, and they are nature and science. Quinn has even been forever fascinated by the duality between nature and humanity, bringing this complex relationship to life through stunning sculpture.
The mirror effect seen in some of the sculptures is a direct metaphor that blurs the boundaries between the viewer, the sculpture and the landscape, with the viewer and the sculpture’s surroundings becoming intrinsic to its display, becoming a part of the work itself.
Quinn even worked directly with Kew Gardens, with each piece inspired by the plants on site and their incredible, mind-bending forms, which can be seen throughout this wonderful series of sculptures.
The sculptures are located all over Kew Gardens, but be sure to check out the offerings on display at the gorgeous Temperate House, which houses 1,200 species from Asia, Australasia, the Americas, and Africa, as well as some works from this fantastic exhibition.
Marc Quinn: Light into Life will be on display at Kew Gardens until Sunday 29 September 2024. Entry to the exhibition is free with entry. To get your tickets and book your spot, click here or the link below.
