An Ullapool art gallery is set to host a new exhibition from an internationally renowned Danish potter.
An Talla Solais art gallery will be hosting 80-year-old renowned artist Lotte Glob’s work from May 25 to July 28, in a new exhibition titled Primordial, Life from the Loch.
Glob’s works as said to be inspired by the dramatic geology of the Highland landscape which she has lived in for the past 50 years. The Danish artist was influenced by her father’s archaeology expeditions to “unearth the graves of bog people in 1940s Denmark”.
Using rocks from the mountains near her croft in her sculptures, Glob often returns her artwork to the land so they can become a part of the landscape once more after breaking down.
Although she is best known for sculpture, Glob also creates artwork on paper which explores themes of life and growth.
Mhairi Muncaster, An Talla Solais director and curator says: “This is a very special exhibition for An Talla Solais, Lotte Glob is an artist whose work is routed in the local landscape and speaks to so many of us. Lotte has been very generous with her time, and we have had access to her studio and comprehensive archive of artwork dating back sixty years. We are thrilled to display over one hundred objects, personal photographs and drawings in this exhibition which charts an extraordinary artistic output.”
